Sensing the Port: A Sound Workshop

A collaboration between Rice University’s Center for Environmental Studies (with support from the Diluvial Houston Initative, an Andrew W. Mellon Foundation project) and the Coalition for Equity, Environment, and Resilience (CEER), Sensing the Port was an artist led workshop that brought community members into conversation around where they live, what they want for the community, and their relationship to the Port of Houston. Led by artists Denise Frazier and Lisa E. Harris, the project used sound to reimagine place, and generate connections through stories and sound exchanges based on the aural worlds of Port Communities in Houston.
